Brake Pads and Rotors

My 08 camry is about to hit 50k miles. is there a timeframe to do pads and rotors or just replace the pads whenever i feel is necessary for me?

how much is a reasonable price to do all 4?

um, replacing brakes depends on how much you actually use them...

rotors can be resurfaced so no need to replace for a while

if you do the front brakes yourself it'll cost you around 60 bucks if you get akebonos

If the brakes are not creating problems--warped, metal to metal----you can just drop new pads in and drive the neighborhood for a few minutes to seat them. I don't turn rotors unless they are well worn and have ridges built up or unless they have warped, in which case I give serious thought to replacing them. A warped rotor got that way due to heat. If you turn them they are now even thinner and more prone to warpage than before.

There's really no specific time or mileage interval to change brake parts except possibly brake fluid, which you should probably flush about every 50,000.
Other then that it all depends on how well they work (no squeaks or scraping noise, no pulling and no pulsating brake pedal), and mechanical wear. This is easily checked just by removing the wheel and inspecting the pad thickenss and rotor condition. Do this or have it done every 5000 to 7,500 miles. A lot of shops will do it free as a sales tool, but by the same token be sure and find an honest shop first, or they might steal you blind selling you stuff you don't need.
