Another Gen 6 V6 Trans Failure

I bought my 07 SE almost a year ago with 62k on it. I made sure my dealership certified it so I had the extended powertrain warranty. I immediately noticed the infamous 3-4 shift flare and had the newest updates downloaded into the trans ECU. Since then, I occasionally experienced slippage between shifts especially if I had been traveling for awhile. Around town seemed fine, until last week. Trans seemed to be slipping a little on takeoff and noticed some flare in the upper shifts. Check engine light on last Saturday, pulled code P2714 on my Scanguage II. P2714 refers to the line pressure shift solenoid so right away I knew something was up. Erased it and kept driving. By Wendesday morning, CEL was back on (same code) and the trans was slipping so bad in the upper gears I had to nurse it to work in sport mode 3rd gear. The code came about because the clutches was so worn the solenoid could not provide the line pressure necessary to prevent slippage. Needless to say the trans is toast. Adjuster came by on Friday and OK'd the new unit. This could have been a financial disaster if I bought this car with no warranty. The reman trans list for over $3100 and the 7 hours of labor needed for the swap would have put the total cost at over $4000 with tax.

I too had the same code and issue, albeit mine occurred much earlier at 8,000 miles. (08 Camry) I've had the occasional problem since then, but nothing to extent it was before. Thankfully you had your extended warranty. I purchased my car during a time when Toyota was offering lifetime powertrain warranties on new and certified used vehicles. There is a dealership in my area Wesley Chapel Toyota who continues to offer this - I believe they are the only one in FL authorized to do so. Warranty is not through Toyota but an insurance company and the deductible would be $50 in the event there is a covered repair.

That's not too bad actually.

My tranny had to be replaced at just 53,000km (33,000m).

Question Model U140E - V6 Transmission slipping

I too am a victim of V6 Transmission. I have another post on this forum that I am updating. I started having problems at 95K miles with Reverse slipping under a load (such as backing out a parking space on a hill). Now at 119K miles I have slipping going from 3rd to 4th gears. After speaking with 2 different local shops, they say that this Model U140E trans has a valve body that wears out the clutch for Reverse and high gears. No codes , check engine or OD lights log errors. Even though with little searching and this model has this problem way more than other Toyota models, Toyota will not acknowledge this as a problem to recall.

Has anyone got their dealer to repair or replace this model trans out of warranty
REVISED: I have a 2002 V6

I'm getting hard downshifts from 6-5-4-3 but normal driving is fine. Cold start is still very harsh shifting all around.

I have a 70K Mile warranty so I'm hoping it goes before then.
