ABS wiring replacement 2002 Camry

2002 Camry 4cyl. 166,000 miles. Brake light and ABS light comes on at start up and stays on. Took it to a non-dealer repair shop. They told me wiring to LR ABS sensor is bad. And...need to replace the rear hub to replace the sensor and wiring for about $760. Makes ABS non-functional but regular braking is ok. I figured with age of car I'll try it myself as I've replaced brakes, claipers etc. on other cars before. So I search this fine forum. Replacing a rear hub seems pretty straight forward. But from what I can tell, I should not need to replace the hub to replace the wiring. Am I right?
Is it possible to pull the wiring harnes from the sensor to the ABS module and test/replace just that?
Or can you only get sensor and wiring as one piece?
Would ABS still pulse the other 3 wheels leaving the LR to lock up? just want to anticipate this if it's expected.
(additional info got struts replaced 2 years ago)
thanks for any info.

I think you have to remove the axle hub assembly from the carrier after disconecting the sensor wiring. From what I can tell, the sensor is a friction fit inside the hub and requires somekind of a puller. Replacing the wiring looks like a big job considering you have a ten year old car. Regards.
