Sorry to scare you. Failure rate is still fairly low overall, my transmission was the first we've replaced on a V6 Camry in well over a year. It is however a trouble area and for those looking to buy an early Gen6 V6, the trans should be scrutinized highly before purchase. Or do like I did and make sure a powertrain warranty is in effect. No worries then.
