Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
any one else have this issue.. has my new camry v6 for 6 months and scheduled for the 1st service appointment... car has synthetic blend oil from the factory and when i inquire about the oil change the dealers only tell me that toyota with there cares program will pay for conventional oil only... i was told by someone at the dealership where i purchased the car that if you have blend only put in blend... the dealer that services the car which is closer to my house will not put it in... i now have to pay in essence for an oil change and toyota will pay for part because i ask for what is already in the car...
My coworker is having problem with the toyota care program too, it's crap. He also said that they will only change your oil every 10,000 miles, not 5,000.

Read the manual. My '11 XLE with 0-20w synthetic is scheduled for 10k oil changes. They will do 2 services with synthetic under the Toyota care program. Picked it up New Years Eve and have 7700 miles as of today.
Took it in for the 5k service and they did all the checks, topped the oil which was 1/4 qt. low, rotated tires, checked for service bullitin updates (none) etc.
I couldn't be happier with the car and the program.
Judget, I would check with the selling dealer, that doesen't sound right

if that dealer is saying that theyre using conventional.. they are in the wrong.. at my dealership we use syn blend for cars that need it and full syn for the 0-20 cars... i would try another dealer ship imo
Hope they don't put conventional. Wouldnt trust it to run 10K miles on it. There is no 0W20 in conventional weight either. However it is true Toyota will only inspect at 5K and change the oil at 10K. The program itself is a joke but hey its free but whatever..

i have been told last night that i have conventional or blend oil in my car.. they are going to change it tomorrow... i will be getting synthetic blend, turning in the coupon and paying a reduced amount for the oil change... you are right it is free and i should not complain but they should just pay for the synthetic blend in full.... then at 10,000 miles they will change again and i would assume pay for the blend in full or if not then i will have to pay the reduced price again... it just does not make sense...
judget Im really sorry man. I totally missed the part that you had a V6. I have the I-4 so I can't comment on what your engine needs or if the dealer treats I-4 and V6 differently. I do have the toyota copy realease saying eventually all yota cars will goto 0W20.
I brought my 2011 XLE V6 in for it's 5K service per the Warranty & Maintenance Guide. My dealer performed the service which includes oil change & filter, rotate tires, inspect brakes and all fluids at no charge to me. Why they even ran my car through their car wash again at no charge. I love the free service and at this point have no complaints.
By the way per the owners manual it recommends for the V6 5W-30 oil and no where does it specify synthetic oil. It only recommends that the oil should have the ILSAC certification mark on the container.
