Transmission adjustments?

Is there any way to stop my 2004 Camry XLE from shifting at such low RPM's? I'm forced to manually shift if I want any power from the engine. I know older generation had a kick-down cable they could adjust to make the transmission hold gears longer.

What are my options?

Nope. It is what it is. You have a somewhat underpowered engine pulling a somewhat heavy car. It needs more engine.

Thanks for the reply. When I shift manually, and actually let the engine build some rev's it drives fine. The problem isn't too little power, it that this transmission shifts to the next gear way before the engine gets into it's power. It will shift into 4th gear before I've hit 40 mph. Any valve body kits, tuners, etc to change the shift points?

press the gas pedal harder, really. if you floor it, the car should shift at redline. if you press the gas pedal harder than whatever youre doing right now, it should shift a little later.
