1) Serpentine belt if its never been replaced
2) Change the oil, you decide synthetic or regular depending on your driving
3) PCV valve- its $5
4) use oem toyota coolant, if you're handy and do your own oil, you can drain and fill coolant even easier.
5) cant hurt to seafoam it- there are plenty of vids on how-to youtube..
6) plugs- use oem iridiums- they're like $9-10 a piece at autozone, easy to change
7) gas, although it really won't use much

I've been more than happy with mine, now at 170k on my 04.. keep up with oil and be easy on her, she'll last.

Engine oil is 5W-30 API. It's shown on the oil filler cap. Coolant is Toyota Long Life pink stuff ,but I use Zerex Asian Car coolant because I refuse to pay Toyota $28.00 a gallon for their pink stuff. Get it from NAPA. Timing belt is replaced at 9 years or 90,000 miles so you are overdue if it hasn't been changed. The owner's maual and maintenance schedule that came with the car shows everything that needs to be done. You did get those with the car didn't you? I personally would never purchase a car that didn't have the maintenance schedule and owner's manual.

Only the 6 Cylinder engines use a timing belt. If you have a 4 Cylinder you have a timing chain and they usually last forever.

JohnFrisco is right. I overlooked that. Toyota says the "allowable stretch" for the chain used by the I4 is a little over 4.5". Enjoy your 04 whatever engine you have.

Power Steering fluid(actually Dexron ATF) and brake fluid flush. Those probably look pretty nasty at that mileage.

I have a 2004 V6 with the five speed AT. I drained out 4.5 qts. when the fluid was hot. After that, I put the same amount in via the dip stick tube, ran the car,[I spaced this out over a period of days] and repeated this procedure three more times. The fluid then looked as good as what was in a new container of T-IV [Mobil 3309] fluid. You will need some new 18mm drain plug gaskets. The drain plug torques to 36 ft.lbs. This can be a real pain in the a double ss if you don't have the right equipment or access to getting rid of the old fluid. I give mine to a guy who burns it in his barn heater.I'm getting older and crawling under cars is getting to be a problem, so I will soon be having my oil changes done. Regards
