Ticking sound from exhaust on a V6?

The reason i am posting this in the camry forums instead of the avalon forums is because no one ever helps there.
I have a 2007 v6 avalon (same engine as the gen 6 camry v6) and i was drag racing my friends mustang today. After the races, when i turned my car off, there was a loud ticking sound coming from my exhaust that i had never heard before, it doesnt happen on my i4 camry. it was rapid and lasted for about 5-10 minutes. I think it was coming from around that catalytic converter area. After about 45mins.-1 hour i started it and it ran fine.
My question is what was the sound and am i messing something up?
Thanks
btw i won the race

What you are hearing is normal, Under WOT a tremendous amount of heat is generated and the catalytic convertor can reach temps nearing 1650 degrees before a CEL. All of this heat causes the steel convertor housing and the convertor media to expand. After you shut off the engine, what you are hearing is the contraction of the materials at different rates, the housing contracts faster than the internal convertor media causing the "ticking" noise.

I would guess it is the exhaust cooling down. Almost all cars do this when the exhaust system gets hotter then normal. The clicking starts once it starts to cool back down and the metal contracts.

I have never heard this from my Camry (don't really run it hard), but I hear it a lot on my GF's HHR.
