2011 Camry Stock Radio Help

Next up for me on the new Camry is dealing with the stock radio. This time around I'm really interested in "Factory Sound Processors" and keeping the factory stereo in tact.

Has anyone used these on the stock LE radio? If so, which one works well?

I want to add a sub which I have a Mono amp to power the single sub.

Does the factory audio system have an amp? Has anyone got creative with utilizing the factory amp to run other amps off of or to boost power to the speakers? ANY input on what mods you all have done while retaining the factory head-unit would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!!

Only if you have a hu that says jbl on it then it will have jbl audio system including jbl speakers and a amp, otherwise the stock radio doesn't have a amp. A few guys here kept the stock hu and tapped into the rear speakers and added a amp i believe but i'm not positive. I switch out the whole stock system and replaced it with my own audio system.

Any idea on the location of the posts/threads and what they used to tap into the rear speaker wires and then what they used the amps to power from there?

In the top right corner of your screen you will see a "search" button, I've used it in the past (and present!!) and it's pretty helpful in finding the threads and posts you need

THANK YOU!! Looks like a line out converter may be the easiest way to go for what I want to do .

Ok so from reading other posts it sounds like the front dash speakers are wired with the front door speakers of the stock 11' Camry HU ... correct?

So, if all I wanted to do was power all 6 speakers by an amp... all I should need is a 4 channel amp right?

Next... if I use a line level out converter... do I just need a 4 channel line level out converter with two pair of RCAs? I assume the best way to do this would be to take the 4 channel line levels and tap into the correct speaker wires directly behind the radio....

Then from the line level converter hook up my two sets of RCAs and hook up the amp... but from there do I have to run speaker wire to each indivdual speaker? Both front door speakers and then to the back speakers? Please advise.

That is correct. You just need a 4ch amp technically. I would just do a single pair line out and run it to your amp then Y cable the RCA to the other 2 channels on the rear. I ran a pair of speaker wires to the front and just ran the rear speaker wires straight to the amp. Be careful you can blow those stock speakers rather easily.

To add a sub, use a line out converter, they are pretty cheap and mediocre in sound quality. I currently have this in my car wired to a jl audio 300/2 to two 12's, its cheap but it works:

For better sound quality and maybe amping your doors speakers later on, i suggest you look into one of these:

Can you explain Y cable the RCa to the Other 2 channels? This is where I'm confused... I've never attempted keeping the OEM radio but trying to add an amp to get power to all the speakers.

If I get a line level converter... can I get away with one that just has a single pair of RCA outs? Then can I just T-Clamp into the speaker wires right in the trunk on the speaker wires that lead to the rear speakers?

From there though... I have to run speaker wire from the amp to all "Four" speakers? I guess I would have to unconnect the factory speaker connects and then create connectors from the amp and hook those up to the door speakers?

Man I wish I had some visual pics of how would pull this off...

Ok Im going to make it easy for you. Im not at work computer but a simple paint schematic Im sure you can tackle with. Im not going to tell you how to run or configure the amp. Im sure you know or I assume you know how to do.

1) With the stock unit hook up the line out
2) From the line out RCAs run all the way back to where the amp is. You will need 2 Y cables and 2 short pairs of RCAs to take the signal to your high pass and the low pass.
3) From the amp hook up the two rear channesl to the sub. (Im assuming if your 4ch amp can handle an amp) Make sure to set the rear channels for low pass.
4) From the amp hook up the speaker channels. You will combine the front and rear speaker terminals from the amp. You will lose the fader, (if you go this route unless you buy a 5 ch amplifier for all the stock speakers + a sub then you can still use the fader.)

Now all this being said I did not want to run new cables thru the front doors. So I just ran a set 16Gauge of 2 speaker wires back to the head unit and splice it there. I just ran 2 sets of new wires to the rear since the amp is in the trunk anyways.

I would highly recommend to get an aftermarket connector kit so you don't splice it to your stock harness. You can get a scoshe kit from Walmart for about $10.

If you're still confused let me know.

I used my high level output on my amp and spliced them to the rear speakers. I did that so I wouldn't have to run RCA cables. The sound is very clear as well

After doing some more searching I think I am going to go with the MTX reQ5.

Now I was looking at one at Nebraska Furniture Mart this weekend and I asked the sales man if I splice into all the speaker wires right behind the head unit with the MTX reQ5. He said yes and then I asked now the hard part will be running to all the speakers in the vehicle from the amp. He showed me some streetwire speaker wire that is bundled all together for 4 channels. He then checked with one of the installers and came back and said I could run back from the amp and splice the speaker in again BEHIND/AFTER where the MTX reQ5.

Then I wouldn't need to run the speaker wire to all the speakers individually. Does this sound like that would work?
