5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have recently bought a new 2011 Camry LE and was thinking of having the side and rearwindow tinted. Cost does not seem to much, and I do like the look. Would not go to extreme as to shading.
I tinted my white camry as soon as I got it. It originally had no tint, and I hate driving around in a fish bowl. I put limo tint on it (illegal), but I havent heard of anyone in florida down getting a fix-it ticket
I got pulled over for mine and checked as the officer was sure it was darker than leagal. It isn't. I think the black car makes it look darker. I really wish we could go just a little darker around here. You can of course but they are on it and will check. You will get a ticket sooner or later. They won't just take you word for it either. They either have an officer check or a receipt from a shop for taking it off.
I had 35% for a year... on the front windows (not windshield) ... and 5% on the back windows... 35 was too light so i went to 20% front and kept the rears 5%..
I only know my vision will be affected more with tint, especially at night. The darker the tint is, the worse my vision gets. Shading is not as important and critical as not being able to see well.
I have 20% all around in jersey. In jersey any tint on front windows is illeagle. Got 2 tickets. Went to my eye doctor and got a medical permit from the DMV for ovularphotophobia. Haven't gotten another ticket since

I've tinted every car I've owned. Usually, I get 35% tint for sides and back.
Tint has its benefits at night also.
Having tint in the rear is nice, especially when you have a truck or an SUV with headlights mounted high behind you as it helps reduce the glare. Also, the tint on the side windows help reduce the glare from the side mirrors as well.

my car is extremely illegal, the entire front windshield is tinted with 35% tint, so that drops to it about 27%, and all the other windows are tinted with 5% so they read about 2%. BUT the tint keeps the car DRAMATICALLY cooler than a car without tint, protects ur inside from fading, deters possible thiefs from lookin inside and seeing valuables (aftermarket radio etc), privacy, sun never blinds you, glar from headlights is pretty much null, makes the car look WAY better from the outside. only downside is the darker u get it, the harder it is to see at night. i have 5k hid's in low's highs and fogs so i can see just fine. and u will also get ticketed, BUT if u do wut blackcamse did (i did the same thing lol) u can get away with it
(btw my sig pic doesnt have the front tint on it, i gotta put a new pic up)

I agree with your points, much cooler etc. I would say two things. 1. Tinting the windshield is negligent. If you ever rear end someone the lawyers would have a hayday. 2 you and blackcam are lying about an eye condition? Come on feellas grow up!

lol man hey, i dnt want anyone lookin in and stealing my z-130!!!! viper only does so much!
and if i rear end someone its gonna b my fault anyways
I couldn't take that risk. I get pulled over easily for the dumbest things. I want my front windows tinted but yea at night it would be harder to see out of it. I have black interior i'd want to make sure it doesn't fade since i'm going to do leather seat replacements. guess i'll get one of those sun visors that should be enough protection.
