It has been a while since I last posted here!
I rolled over 300,000 miles in my 1997 Camry XLE V6. While the engine and transmission were still going like the champs they are, the body had seen better days. I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a new car. It was no-contest that I was getting another Camry. Wound up getting the 2011 SE V6 w/ TRD exhaust and lowering springs right off the bat. K&N Intake is next!
Anyway, in my last car I had my radar detector direct wired into the light bulb that was next to the sunroof controls because it was easy to get at and I was able to just slide the hot and ground into the same place the bulb went, with an inline fuse, so I didn't have to cut any wires. On my new car I am a bit more wary about taking the same area apart (its a bit more complex) so I figured I could wire it into the vanity/visor light that turns on when the visor is flipped down.
To my surprise, though, the wiring to this light is way more complex than I expected. The wire on each side seems like it has 3 wires running to it, all molded together into 1 wire. I am a bit timid about cutting wires on my brand new car and testing for power, etc.
So I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this? I have searched the forums and seen a couple people who wired it down the pillar and to power along the driver side door sill but honestly I'd like to avoid that. There isn't even a Haynes book out for the 2011's yet so I really have no official references, only the few titbits of information I've been able to find online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I will post some more pics, and of the wiring on the light, when I am home for the day. Thanks TN!
