2005 Rear Brake Caliper

I am replacing the rotors and the pads on my sister 2005 4cyl Se ( Japan Model) And am having trouble removing the top caliper slider pin which is siezed. I did some searching but I havent seen an actual method to removing it. Does anyone know how? thanks for the help

you have several options:

1. soak the pin in pb blaster, tap with a hammer to break up the rust/corrosion, then use very large vise grips to give you extra leverage to twist it out.

2. remove the boot, soak the pin in pb blaster, then use heat. mapp torch or mapp/oxygen torch from home depot will likely provide enough heat. then do the same as above.

3. if none of the above work, you're better off replacing the calipers.

Make sure you use 1/2 in. drive 6 point sockets - else you'll likely round off bolt heads.

A long stretch of pipe fitted over the ratchet handle provides added leverage.

If the bolt head(s) are rounded off - Sears has some special sockets to deal with that problem.

Thank for the help. i tried some of the tips today but i ended up having to order new calipers. better in the long run i guess
