Remote wire...

Okay so i upgraded my HU to an aftermarket navi but now I want to wire an amp but there is no remote wire option on this HU.... Should I use the power antenna wire? I have a PAC inverter that I had used in my accord but I dont really like that any adjustment that you wanna make to the sub effects the rear speakers so I would rather use the HU to power and adjust the amp. What other wires could I tap into? the acc wire maybe? and how will this effect the HU? and lastly I have an illumination wire from the HU harness that is not connected... where can I connect it to so that it will dim the HU when my headlights turn on? Thanks peps

If its an aftermarket HU with rca outputs it should have a solid blue wire for a remote wire, if not just tap into the headunit power wire, since it will only power on if the car is on.

negative, tap into the ACC wire. Usually its the red wire. The power wire is usually the yellow wire which is a +12v constant. This wire will leave your amp on always draining your battary.

Agree to ACC wire as remote wire.

There are high/low converters out there that have a built in relay that supplies a remote output when it reads a singal from your speaker line input. The problem with using the ACC wire, is that sometimes you get feedback when you turn off the radio and your car is still running, your subs will send out a loud tone until you turn your radio back on or shut off the car. If your car doesn't do that then the ACC wire is fine to use. I would strongly recommend using a relay just in case in the event that your amp arcs and sends a ground to the head unit. If you use a relay you can wire it up as so: 85 goes to ACC, 86 goes to GROUND, 87 goes to FUSED 12V CONSTANT, and 30 goes to your amp.
