2003 Camry Reverse Stutter/Kick

When I reverse (and wait 3 seconds just to ensure the gears are engaged), on occaision I feel a stutter/kick.

To offset it, I will tap the pedal when reversing so its not coninuous.

Any ideas on what this could be?

I'm coming up with a TSB for the 1MZ for shift feel enhancement. As I recall, that was for forward gears, but it can't hurt to have it reprogramed if never done.

Interesting.
Thanks alot.

The thing is, every time it kicks I hit the brake and then start tapping the gas like tap-tap-tap and it doesn't get a chance to do it again.

Specifically, it occurs when I am reversing on an incline, not steep at all, just a slight incline. Almost feels like the gas takes a split second brake going through? Thats the only thing I could think of. This is occuring at randomly too.

Be sure your throttle body is clean since that is a commonly neglected maintenance.

my avy, same 1MZ engine, does that when going into reverse. :/
I heard it was because of worn out engine mounts? (the one by passenger strut)

does it do any damage to the transmission everytime i feel that kick/jerk?
