Gen5 Stereo Issue

i'm not sure how well i can explain this but i need some help.

i have a 2002 camry le and the stereo/cassette player has been acting up. i will get into the car and put my cassette adapter in (so i can listen to my ipod) and its fine, for awhile. after a bit of time, and depending on the temperature outside, the stereo will drop the sound for a moment and come back. i may do this once, it may do it five times (if i let it). regardless, after this happens the stereo will kick out the cassette adapter and it is warm to the touch. it is not warm to the touch when i put it in the stereo.

so i'm wondering, how and why is my stereo overheating? if thats even what its doing. i dont know. i just want to be able to play my ipod in my car without an fm transmitter because those suck. and i dont want to buy an aftermarket deck unless i really really need to.

thank you so much for any insight! i hope you all know how to fix this!

Seem like it's over heating, time to replace it, where are you located? I might have a stock unit laying around

I will have to agree, sounds like overheating issues or the head unit is just crapping out. It is from 2002, i would suggest finding a good after market replacement that will improve the sound quality or find a stock replacement for cheap.

Since you have a iPod I suggest getting an aftermarket unit with aux out or iPod out
