Gen5 2005 Camry SE 3.3L V6 Front Brakes - Weird Size!

I have a 2005 Camry SE 3.3L V6 built in the USA. I changed the rotors and pads both front/back about 2 years ago with EBC slotted rotors and Red Stuff pads. Yes, a little overkill, but I'm an aggressive driver and they've definitely saved me more times than I could count.

Jump to 3 weeks ago when I had to change the front pads. Took the pads off, and noticed that there was about a 1/4" slot of pad that wasn't worn down on both right/left pads. I thought this was rather...strange. So I ordered new EBC Red Stuff pads for the front, got the pads, and holy crap they were too small. I had to go to Autozone for new pads because the next day I was driving my kids to Long Island and didn't want to jeopordize their safety. So I went into Autozone thinking that the dealer sent me the wrong pads...turns out they had in their system the same small pads. Now I'm really scratching my head...turns out I have the same size pads as the Lexus ES330 or the 2006 with the 3.5L V6. I also know I need bigger diameter rotors as well (11.7" instead of listed 10.8").

Has anyone else had this problem with their '05 Camry SE V6? Or did Georgetown screw up and put different calipers on the car? I'm at a loss here...I'm more interested in solving this mystery than anything...I appreciate the help!

If the pads didn't fall out of their brackets then you have the right pads, should be the 906 (5.64" long x 2.16") for SE/XLE and not the 908 (5.18" long x 2.3") for LE.

The rotor for the SE/XLE should be the 11.65" instead of the 10.82" for the LE. From Raybestos and Akebono catalogs.

Sounds like you got the right pads and wrong (smaller) rotors.

Thanks John...definitely got the wrong rotors...folks at EBC then and still now say my SE needs the 10.8" rotors. As far as the pads, this last time the pads were too small (909's). I think EBC has the incorrect specs...but what I found strange was that Autozone told me the same thing...rotors that were too small and pads that were too small. I'm hoping that EBC might step up to the plate and send me the correct size rotors, and maybe even the brake pads...but I'm somehow doubting it. I'll have to check Akebono and Raybestos catalog as a little proof for EBC.

as far as I know only SE got 3.3 motor and bigger rotors. rest of the camry line even 3.0SE and XLE got same rotors as LE.

I tried to fit rotors from 3.3 camry on 2000 camry-they were too big. but rotors from V-6 LE fit just right.

I solved the problem with a big brake kit... now nothing OEM Gen 5 fits on my car for brakes!

Update to my first post...I've been in contact with EBC, and apparently Toyota sent the drawings of the rotors that look exactly the same to aftermarket manufacturers. But you had to look VERY closely at the fine print to see that the rotors for the 2005 Camry SE 3.3L V6 were 11.7" diameter, and the pads were much bigger. I get the feeling a lot of aftermarket vendors did this...Autozone's Duramax sure did!! Huge Kudos though to EBC...they really stepped up to the plate and offered to send me free brake pads and 50% off new correct size rotors. I probably could have nipped this in the bud had I taken the time to double check the factory rotors with the new EBC rotors back in 2009. Since I'm going to have to replace the rotors at some point, might as well get them for 50% off now!

Thanks for the info Kenny! I had done a search and came up with 3 pages of stuff, but nothing addressing my situation. I think I was a bit too specific in my search and it didn't come back with what you had said. But thanks though for the link!
