Seafoam in fuel tank threw 2 codes. Please help

Hi everyone,

Recently I had my car serviced 2k miles ago and they replaced the maf sensor because I screwed it up due to putting too much oil on my K&N filter. Car ran well after that (I had to reset the ecu to get the transmission back in line).

This past weekend I was closing in on an oil changed and wanted to use seafoam in my oil and fuel tank. I put some in the oil and drove the car for 100 miles. After I did the oil change I put 1/3 in my fuel tank and filled it up.

The next day I was driving the car and it was very sluggish and felt like it was going to stall. After 20 minutes the check engine light came on.

I threw codes p0101 and p0172. p0101 is for richness and p0172 is for the maf.

I used to have slight pinging before at high rpm and that is gone now. Autozone told me that the codes are probably thrown because the car is now freed up and the car is getting more fuel and the computer can't adjust from the lean to rich condition. I drove the car some more yesterday and reset the codes. The car ran better and I gave it some hearty full throttle runs. It opened up ok but after one of those runs the light came back on and it started to get sluggish again.

Did I kill a sensor? Is my fuel line clogged? Bad plug?( I changed them 10k ago). Anyone have any thoughts? Should this get better when I put new fuel in after I use all this up? I'm debating going to the dealer but don't know what to look out for.

Car has 65k on it and is the 08 LE camry

Did you clean the rest of the oil off the filter after you changed the maf? If not check it again and clean. Soak the filter oil with paper towells or rags. Be real careful on cleaning mafs. They are very delicate.

I've never and don't trust putting seafoam in the oil. I would probably drain that oil and run that tank down and see if that would be the culprit. Putting 1/3 in the tank shouldn't hurt it.

Also reset the ECU since your car needs to relearn the fuel maps.

Actually I changed the filter with a paper one before I got the new MAF so I wouldn't have to worry about that happening.

When using seafoam in the gas tank, i suggest changing the oil after and also the spark plugs. Not sure about what those codes are though.
