Update...Full Size Spare Tire Conversion (Part numbers and installed pics included)

For all of you 2007-2011 Camry owners, this one is for you. I have an SE model (2009), but like so many, I have a donut for a spare, which I cant stand. I am going to convert my US model Camry spare tire to the Canadian Camry spare tire set up. I have already purchased a 5th matching SE rim and tire. The current US model Camry hold down carrier screw and press board panel floor do not work with a full sized spare (carrier screw is too short the press board is too low causing the floor to bow in the middle). I have researched this for about 4 days and I have finally found the correct part numbers needed to correctly change out my donut spare to a full size 17" SE alloy rim and tire. The part numbers listed below are the same parts that are used in the Canadian Camry.

64770-06260---------Full Size Steel or Alloy Spare Press Board Panel Cover (it has larger foam blocks) $78.54

51900-33090---------Full Size Steel or Alloy Spare Carrier Hold Down Screw (longer length so spare can be mounted rim face up) $11.22

I just ordered both of these parts from my local dealership, which they price matched with www.parts.com. The cheapest I found these parts were on www.parts.com which I listed above.

The floor of the car was only raised a 1/2", not much at all for having a full size spare.

I hope this helps all you Camry owners,

CPS

Rim face up.

I think that is the only thing you need, since your car should have everything else.

WTF, why does the US Camry not come with a full-size spare when the Canadian one does? What is the logic behind this? Especially given that even Canadian Camrys are made in the US to begin with...

Wow good work! I wonder if i can fit one of my 18x8 rims with this set up? I wouldn't mind having a full spare of my rims!

full size spare is good 30lbs heavier than donut,
plus it lifts trunk floor.
around city it probably over kill, but could be good for long trips.

I used my donut like maybe once. Sure a full size is good but for something use only once in about 70K miles isn't a big different. But a 30 lbs add will make a different in city driving.

Good to know it only cost $91 to add the option of full size. Of course if you do put in full size you have to buy the extra fifth wheel and tire. And than there is the Radial tire too which is directional. Can it be mix Radial with non Radial tire?

A simple update of original thread would of been good enough instead of a new post. Merged

Not to hi-jack the thread, but you could buy a new Chevy Cruze. It will come with no spare tire, and no jack. Only a bottle of inflator.
