07 XLE with 19in Highlander rims INTENSE Vibration
I'm sure you guys seen it before.. do i just deal with the vibrations or is something wrong here... sorry for the rant!
i need some help!!! I'm willing to pay-pal $10 USD dollars to the person who can lead me to some relief!!! please
I can really, really use some replies to this situation i got going on:
I have a 07 Camry XLE, and recently got a great deal on some almost new 2010 highlander 19in rims, the rims are excellent... they have been balanced 2 times by hunter road-force machine and that seem to lower just a bit the vibration at speeds upward of 50mph, but not significant. 4 new tires are 225/40/19. my mechanic checked for bearings,Axel, etc. everything good, the rims are not warped/bended, no damage. air pressure checked..
I contacted a couple other Camry's with them on at cardomain and I'm awaiting a reply. Anybody know if is there something else that can be done about the rattling, intense vibration at high speed ? or just deal with it?
I have the minimum spacers in front because by the rim installers the rims would rub against the front calipers.on my original XLE rims i had no vibration what so ever. any help would be very helpful. thanks guys. greatly appreciate some help
hi, i also have some highlander 19's but the hybrid ones, i used some h&r 5mm spacers in the front but i decided to shave more the lip of the caliper where the rim touched and my vibration was reduced drastically. the car vibrated a lot cuz the rim wasnt lying at the hub (in my opinion). my car now vibrates a little bit up from 60mph but i know that i have one of the rims a little bit bent due to a highway hole. hope this helps.
yes hubcentric rings should get rid of the problem, i had the same problem on my 99 camry i had 18s i forgot to put the hubcentric rings and it vibrated once i installed them the vibration went away.

Thanks for the reply, i have 5mm spacers currently in front. Not sure if h&r.
can you elaborate on the shaving of the lip of the caliper? this is not my expertise at all. appreciate it

Over two different "highly" suggested installers from around my way, stated that because they are original toyota highlander rims; there are no hub rings available for them. only aftermarket rims receive hub-centric rings?
is this correct? any info you can share on this
I would take the wheels to the shop and have it balanced with lug-centric adapter.
I doubt you need to mess with hub-centric rings for stock wheels.

Yea, they were balanced twice already with the hunter roadforce and adapter great service shop in queens,ny.
I got a guy from car-domain telling me i should be fine with no spacers and a bit of sanding down the front calipers a bit until wheels dont rub against it. thinking about it heavily
He needs hub centric SPACERS not rings. He has to run spacers to clear the caliper.
The hub centric spacers will center the wheel and the hub. With your current set up the hub of the wheel is not centering onto the hub of the car because you have the spacer in the middle.
Usually Toyota & Lexus wheels have a hub size of 60.1, and the ones you have should be this also. Therefore you don't need rings if they're this size.
The problem is related to your spacers. They are pushing the wheel out and the wheels are no longer fitting over the hub of your car.
It looks like his wheels are already spaced out far enough. The min. hubcentric spacer is 10mm, which looks like it'll still be too much.
Another option is to get a small spacer like 3mm to just clear the caliper, and make sure they're 60.1.
I agree with you... I really dont want to go with the sanding down the caliper route, I was assuming i had the smallest spacers right now, Now on to find the 3mm spacers with a center of 60.1!
you have 2 routes, sand the caliper like i did, when i refer to the lip (sorry about my english) is the curved apart area in the picture, as you can see its more flat than the rest of the caliper thats because i used a dremmel to reduce it. its safe and doesnt take too much effort. also you can use a 10mm spacer hub centric so your rim lies on the hub. problem with the 5mm was that i noticed the spacer pushed the rim out and covered the stock hub. once i take out the spacer my vibration was reduced drastically. hope this helps more
Have the tire shop take off your tires and check for water in the rims. As crazy as it sounds, I had it happen in my previous car; an 08 accord coupe. I couldn't go any faster than 45 without thinking my car was gonna fall apart. I had them balanced 3 times and nothing. Finally they took the tires off and found that somehow, water had gotten into the rims and it would show a balance on the machine, but as soon as i started driving it was crazy vibration. All they did after that was dry out the inside, re-balance them and then they were all good from there
