2004 camry LE broken sunroof - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Today while driving the camry, heard a loud popping or snapping sound from the sunroof as I tried to close it. The sunroof would try to close but then stop. Could hear a popping noise every time I try to close it but to no avail. I've had to leave it in the open position. After inspection, saw a small black plastic piece on both tracks. Any advice on what is the cause of the problem and what it may cost to repair? Any help is appreciated.

I had the same exact thing happen to my car today. 2004 XLE V6. A little piece of black plastic that looked like a cog was on the left track in the back. It is this side that hangs when closing. Not opening. I don't understand it at all. It pops when the roof is closed and it hangs. The tilt function almost has to be babied to even get it to pop up or close correctly. I will be posting the cost and part that was. Very frustrating seeing there is no PDF diagrams out there. I would love to know what part this is!
