Transimission Service

I have a 2004 Camry SE 3.3 VVTi with 135,200K miles. This car is my daily driver and mostly highway not so much in traffic. The owner's manual stops at 120k. I just need to know what the scheduled transmission service (transmission oil change and filter) is for my vehicle.

I and I think a few others change most if not all fluids at 30k regardless of what manual says. Remember it is written by car CO. and repair shops they want the car to last just long enough so you don't get mad and switch or long enough to keep dumping money into repairs. All my cars have last over 200k(minus selling one at 150k and 2 other cars that got hit and totalled). couple head gaskets but otherwise nothing but routine repairs. Average monthly cost not including gas 150- 200 a month and that is including cost of car. always bought car never financed. Just my opinion though, each to their own.

If the car is a keeper than 60K normal service is a bit too optimistic. That should be the Aisin U151E 5-speed transmission running dino Mobil-3309 (Toyota T-IV). If you drive mostly highway then IMO change at 30K miles. For severe service 15K miles. The dino fluid likes to turn brown in as little as 20K miles. Some owners switch to fully synthetic Valvoline MaxLife ATF, which is suitable for T-IV applications:

The transmission also uses a felt filter that should be replaced at those intervals:

An aftermarket kit with gasket is about $15+shipping online.

+1.

Dino ATF isn't good for much over 15K/30K (severe/normal service). The new Dexron VI (6) synthetic blend ATF for the GM Le Pelletier Hydramatics is an excellent fluid, and it has a 50/100K interval.

But there is always oil analysis for those who want to get the most miles out of their fluids:
