5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a used 2007 Camry with 47k on it. I am thinking about purchasing the Toyota 100k extended warranty for it, since it would cover me for 3 years.
I know that there are lots of threads on the warranty, but does anyone have experience with it covering your Camry? I know that there are a number of exemptions on the warranty. Has anyone run into problems getting an issue fixed? For example, I know that the 2007's can have transmission problems.
I would be very careful about purchasing any extended warranty. Even a warranty from the dealer. Most are nothing more than an expensive insurance policy that the issuer never expects to pay out a dime on claims. Regards

Unless you buy the Toyota corporate warranty, because with these much lower quality cars, it will pay for itself and then some.

Isn't that every Insurance Policy?
I think it depends on the reputation of the car holding up versus the cost of the warranty. Yes, there are warranties out there that won't cover things but all you have to do is read the entire warranty. I purchased one for my Audi and if I didn't have it I would have paid $2K out of my own pocket in repairs. I bought an 08 Camry LE used and the credit union gave me a warranty for $800. I think for the total cost of ownership, that's peanuts, BUT only if you plan on keeping the vehicle well over 100K miles. My .02

The key also is how much you pay for a Toyota Platinum no deductible extended warranty.
You can buy a 7/100 Toyota Platinum for a Camry at around $900 and no sales tax from Troy Dietrich of Toyota of Greenfield in MA.
That's not bad for 7/100 piece of mind when you have a well optioned Camry.
At $1700+ sales tax,it can be another story.
