Custom intake help

I have a 11 4 cyl 2.5l camry. I was able to get on short ram with all of the stock casings but since the sensor did not fit snug the check engine light turned on that same night. I was able to see a few posts and check out the parts needed but not exact parts needed to make the custom intake. So far I got the air filter but need the pipe and the housing for the maf sensor which i found on jegs.com thanks to other posts found on the site. Spectre 9405 - Spectre Modular Air Intake System & Accessories. Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm going to build one for mine soon also.
I believe you will need this for the MAF:

I just made mine not to long ago with autozone parts.
Here is a list of what I used.
1 - #8751 coupler kit
2 - #8738 45 degree tubes
1 - #9405 MAF sensor mount
and the filter of your choice.
1 - Small Breather filter also (that you will connect into the loose tube you will see once you take everything from the OEM intake out)
Connect in that order to!

The sensor mount you have to get at JEGS because Autozones supplier is out of stock so they cant even special order it. Happy tuning!

Most likely nothing. On a good day, 1-2 hp?

Yeah no real gains its more so for the sound but even with a K&N that says you get 14hp its not till you are in the 5k rpm range that you get real gains. So no real gains with those unless you drive like a mad man all the time.

^ maybe that's why I feel the V6 didn't fully kick in until it reach around 80mph. Below that it feels like a pig hauling all the weight. But that was OEM intake.

K&N stated 14hp on an I4 for a drop in filter? What a crock of dung. Have to be WOT.

I'll agree, it does sound cool though.

I have K&N SRI and drive like a mad man all the time.

Oh, just hit 11,000 miles with the SRI and no check engine light at all.

I had a custom SRI on my 2.4L accord, similar specs to the 2.4 camry.

With the sri, it sounded loud and mean. But really , its so loud but you got no where fast :P

Recently put on my stock intake with out the resonator, its a bit quieter but sounds mean. Gained some lower end back and lost a bit of higher end, the opposite was gained with the sri. I do a lot more in town driving, stop and go etc. The low end power seemed more reasonable to me and I wish I converted back to stock sooner!

I've heard o loss of low end or torque from a really unrestricted exhaust (experienced this one myself) due to reduced backpressure, but how does a sri bring down low end? Does it throw off the a/f ratio so much that the ecu can't adjust enough or something? Curious!
