Timing belt change...would you?

I recently purchased a 2003 V6 Camry in mint condition. It has 49k miles. The prepurchase inspection showed that the timing belt is in satisfactory condition.

Would you change the timing belt?

It should last to 90k miles.

I did mine at 90kmiles...if you do change it, do the water pump at the sametime..it will save you money in the end.

I know the manual says 90k miles is the recommended service interval, however, I am a bit concerned about the age of the belt. The inspector says it's still good, but wanted this forum's recommendations as well. Thanks.

If they said it is still good, then leave it til the recommended interval.

My car is an 02 and i did a year ago i think. Your car is barely broken in!

I have 125k miles now and i consider that just broken in.

I'd wait.

I agree with everyone else. I would wait. My wife has a 2000 Avalon
with 142,000 miles on it. We did not change the belt until last summer
with arond 139,000 miles on it. The mechanic at the time said the old belt when removed was in good shape, but at that milage I did not want to push any longer.

timing belt..have you visually inspected it? look for cracks on any rubber belt when you're underneath the hood, any cracks would mean you should replace the belt

No cracks in belt, looks to be in decent shape.
