Swap steering wheels between models?

I was wondering if you could swap steering wheels between trim models of same generation. Say you have a base model camry without steering wheel controls. Can you put on a LE or SE steering wheel with controls and still keep the airbag in tact and fully functioning? Has anyone done this?

If you have basic steering wheels with no buttons and you swap it for a steering wheel that has buttons, I dont think you would just be able to swap. Your car steering column wouldn't have the wiring to control the buttons. I could be wrong but usually, if you're adding something that you dont have to begin with, you wont have the wiring. It's not going to be plug and play.

no it wouldn't but i'm looking into this as well, so long as you can pass a few lil wires down the column and have a headunit that it compliant with the controls, it should be doable. I just can't seem to find the phone controls (since i already have the media, camry SE) So if you find the buttons i'll buy em and write ya a walkthrough
