Timing belt help needed Camry 1mzfe
Hello,
I am changing the timing belt and water pump on 2002 V6 Camry SE with 1MZ-FE engine (which I beleive is a non-interference engine).
I was following the Haynes book which said to turn the crank counterclockwise 60 degrees BTDC, prior to removing the belt so as to minimize valve piston contact. If I moved the crankshaft CCW what damage may have occurred?
Now with the water pump replaced I find I can move the crankshaft and left (forward) camshaft to TDC, but the rear camshaft wants to bounce back when trying to advance it clockwise. It is currently about 8 sprocket teeth or 60 degrees to the left of its TDC mark. I am not sure what to do to get all pulleys safely aligned for the new belt installation.
I am trying to avoid removing the rear valve cover if possible as it looks to be difficult.
