Ya. Just like the title says. Don't buy Yokohama Avid Touring S tires. Worst tires for wet roads. Fronts were Michelin Primacy MXV4 and the rears were the Yokos. The back slid out in a turn, not even speeding, overcorrected and hit a pole on the other side of the street. Luckily, there were no other cars on the road at the time. Cop came, got cited for "driving too fast for conditions." I'm just glad I didn't hit another car. Very sad now...

Bummer.. Glad no one was hurt. Pics? Is it fixable? I've got Michelin Pilot Exaltos at all four corners and it's like driving on rails, even 20K miles later and just over half the tread left. I ended up putting them on my mom's Camry along with my gf's Camry.
xpeed - I had no clue your Camry was gone, and I see from your sig that it happened in '09! I must have been taking a break from the forums at the time. I remember looking up the speaker grille problem [crumbling] and you had pics of yours. At least you're in another Camry! (My katakana is a bit rusty but I still remember the basics)

Thanks. Maybe I should have just flipped my car.The last thing I need right now is a ticket. Any way I can get it dismissed in court?
The Avid Touring S were bad in wet roads when I had them at all four corners. Got a flat in one of them when they were brand new and I didn't want to replace all four brand new tires just because of that one. The problem is that the Michelins are very grippy and the Yokos are not. I've had the back slide out on an interchange loop on the highway. Recovered from that but I was damn scary.
Looking at the damage, I think the car is going to be totaled considering the value of the car. The front right is crushed in pretty good. Here are some pics
Also, airbags did not deploy. With that much front damage, shouldn't they have gone off??

I think a ticket is peanuts compared to flipping your car-where you may easily have been hurt WAY worse. A ticket is only money and points, and a possible raise on insurance premiums. But much better than being in the hospital.

Did the damage extend into the unibody. If not, your car looks fixable. I think the air bag is calibrated to deploy in a five mile and hour frontal crash within an area 30 degrees out to each corner. I'm sorry for your loss. I would love to have that grill. Regards
Usually it will be totaled if the damage exceeds 2/3 the car's value. It looks fixable, but you can't really tell until the hood is opened and you can better assess the damage. It will be up to your insurance co.
Shit happens...just be glad you're ok...and F the asshole pig that gave you ticket

I was joking about the flipping. I am glad I did not get hurt from the accident and I have to say that the Camry is a very safe vehicle.
I expect there to be some damage to the suspension as I went up a curb sideways and if I had low profile tires, the wheels would probably be under the car. I'll find out how much damage there really is after the weekend.
Any advice on the ticket? I can't afford to have three points on my license

You can try to have the ticket dismissed in court due to the circumstance. The judge may side with you. Perhaps it was your prior tickets that motivated the cop to write you.

Since your airbag didn't deploy, my guess is your insurance company will fix it. If there's no damage to the "frame" then I don't see a problem with that. It actually doesn't look too too bad. Your Camry looks so clean and shiny.. I feel your pain.
And fight the ticket. Sucks that in addition to having an at-fault accident, the cop cited you so you'll have even more pts against you - as if an accident isn't already bad enough! But yeah, just contest it. Doesn't hurt to try. Even if it doesn't get dismissed, there's a good chance it'll get reduced. Do you have prior tickets? If not (or at least if they're not speeding tickets) I'm sure you can convince the judge that it was the road conditions and not you speeding.
Good luck and keep us updated.

sorry to hear this.
good thing you are ok.
car doesn't look to bad. but depend on damage, miles and your mechanic skills it still can be totaled.
don't know about Michelin Primacy MXV4, but Energy MXV4 ain't good on wet and snow at all.
but they great on highway, very quiet.

I'm really sorry about your car and the ticket...glad you are OK. However, I'm taking two things away here.
1. There is a strong possibility that your handling was compromised by mixing tire models.
2. RESPECT that freshly laid blacktop that you lost control on.
I hope things work out OK with your repairs.
BTW the Avis Touring S is near the top of its class for wet traction. Check out the Tire Rack survey results...standard touring all season. 30K on mine and love em.
