Noise in the roof

I have a 2011 Camery SE, After about a month, when I would pull into a parking lot or make a turn, I can hear a poping sound in to roof. Has anyone else had this problem. I have a sun roof but it makes the noise weather its open or shut. Thanks

I had the same problem. It drove me NUTS.

It ended up being my seatbelt latch (the part you plug the seatbelt into the plastic thing). Every time I hit a bump or turned, my body movement would slightly move around the seatbelt latch, resulting in the area it was mounted (I think it was on a threaded bolt..) to click. Part was going to be replaced, but they tried spraying lube first, which did the job.

I know I sound crazy, but the click would travel up and bounce off the roof, so I kept feeling like the sound came from the roof. Wobble your seatbelt acceptor/latch/thing and see if it clicks in a similar fashion. Might not be your issue, but I thought it might be yours since you say it happens whenever you turn.

11LE did the sound travel to the area of the sunvisor? Are you talking about the seat belt part next to the door or the part next to the seat console area?

Origin- console area. Sounded like it was coming from directly above my head.

There are other rattles in my car that may also be what you're experiencing. I'd describe it as a light click/sticking sound in the b pillar (where the seatbelt comes out) and where the headliner meets the window trim. There's a tsb for it, I think. Something about the windshield.

It's your roof welding going bad, your suroof will become loose and fly off in about a month.

No, you're ok my car does that too now for over a year, and yes it's the roof welding, it pops when entering driveway and turning at slow speed (like in the parking lot).

You can take it to the dealer and fix the welding but I chose not to because I don't need them to add any more problem to what I already have, and it only pops once after sitting for a while, so it doesn't really bug me.

No, I didnt bother taking it to the dealer, was thinking about it though after reading through the forum

i also get this sound. i found this after hearing it the first time.



Pretty sure it wasn't a strike as there is no marring anywhere hear the center of that crater. i also have one near the front left of the moon window.

Take it to the dealer there's actually two tsb's for a knocking sound coming from sunroof and another one for a rattle if im not mistaken
