Removing factory seat cover

2002 XLE with cloth seats.

Is it easy to remove the factory seat covers (Front seats). I figure it's easier to wash them that way.

Essentially skin the seat non-destructively. Bottom cushion cover and if back rest cover. (If it's pain I don't want to).

And oh is there an airbag within the seat? (it says side airbags)

It was very easy to remove them on my 2009 when I installed Katzkin leather covers. I believe they were held in with hog rings and thats how I installed the Katzkin.

My recommendation is if you just want to clean them I would use a bissell cleaner or a shop vac. Look on some detailing sites for a good cleaner to use like woolite & water and read up on the proper ratio to use, also its very vital to rinse well after using any soap so as not to attract dirt quicker by leaving soap residue. a Shop vac works pretty well for this kind of extraction as does a bissell little green machine and similar devices.
