Moonroof maybe jumped track

Hello all, joined today to try to get some help, I will try to be as brief as possible and still give all info. We have an '03 Camry, we knew the moonroof had a problem and didn't use. Daughters new boyfriend wanted to use. It is stuck in the lift position, when trying to shut it only drops a touch and wont close. I have read all I can find here and every where else. Tried the reset, didn't work. Here's the actions, when the button is pressed a flat slider on each side moves to about the center of the track to a small arm on each side with a finger that rides in each track, bumps it and backs up about an inch. Pulled the interior light and tried to manually move with allen wrench in motor, can crank to same spot and won't go any farther. I believe these guides are supposed to be on the back side of the sliders, just a guess. Just want to get it closed and pull power to motor. Called dealership, that wasn't an option with them, fix it or don't bring it. I know track peices are bad, have removed small plastic peices from tracks in the past and cranked it closed. this time it's in the up position and that doesn't work. Any idea's anyone. Thanks

If I were u I'd just take it to the dealer and take the hit on what ever the cost is to fix. If u get it closed some how theres no guarantee that it will be a water tight seal. If that leaks you'll Rouen your head liner and everything. I wouldn't chance it.

There is no easy fix for this. First, get a new boyfriend for your daughter--one who listens to you when you say don't touch. Maybe it will work on things other than the sunroof.

Next, you are going to pull the headliner out, taking care not to break anything, and see if you can find the problem. There is no way to fix it without getting that thing out so you can touch, feel, and look.
