5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
At night time especially, recently, my car seems to be whistling as it seems, in under the hood. I never went outside and popped the hood to hear but it definitely seems like it is coming from there. When I start the car I hear it whistle up and whenever I rev it, the whistle noise increases. Weird...
2nd issues is when my vents are set as OFF, I can still feel heat coming in from the feet, on top of the dash, whatever it may be or what setting it is at. When it is at OFF, as I said, I still feel the heat coming in.
i figure its just airflow no matter if the blower is on or not..... air enters the intake under the cowl, through the HVAC assembly, through whichever vents are selected, then out the car through various openings or the vent in the trunk
if recirc mode is on it takes air from inside the car so the airflow is different..... ive noticed much less dust on my dash if i leave it in recirc all the time

^Exactly. My 11 SE Camry does this, my 95 Mustang does this, my husband's 2000 Maxima does this. In fact, every car I've owned does this, unless you change it to recirculation.

From what I understand, when the AC is off the Heat is turn ON despite the fan on or off. So to turn down the heat, turn the temperature knob all the way to cold while with the AC off.
1.I never heard any whistling from under the hood.
my car whistling under rear seat/tank when at idling.
2.when you driving incoming air flowing through vent. system, switch to recirculation.

Try turning on the headlights on during the day and see if it does it. My guess is your just hearing a slight alternator whine when an electrical load is placed on it. My car does it too.
