Gen6 Lightening the Load 08 Camry LE

Besides alloy rims (from steelies) and a lighter battery, any other ideas to lighten the weight of a daily driver camry?

Looking to offset the weight of the rear sway bar and front strut bar I'm going to put on.

How much weight do you really want to reduce in order to see the improvement in mileage?

The additional weight you will be putting on your car with the strut bar and rsb is really nothing to your car. I wouldn't worry about it.

Change out your hood for a fiberglass one.
There's not a whole lot you can do if it's a DD. If you're planning on tracking it, now there's another story.

Not looking to see an improvement. I know that would take drastic measures, just didn't want it to go down after mods. I think it will end up balancing out or saving a few pounds. Just curious what everyone else has done.

Thanks all!

I remember reading somewhere about the mileage which will decrease by only about 1 mpg for an addition of 100 lbs. It is just an estimate, but you get the idea.

That sounds about right.
Here is my estimate:
Steel to alloy rims - 20 lbs.
Lightweight battery - 20 lbs.
RSB +10-15 lbs.
Strut bar +20-25 lbs.

if you got lightweight wheels-maybe.
if not-you not getting any improvement:
google weight of the 16" steel wheel and average weight of 17" alloy-you'll be surprised...
my 17" Avalon wheels 4lbs more than stock 16" steel rims.

Holy cow really? How about the weight of the tires. Less mass since the sidewall is smaller (I would assume)

BTW, do you have any pics of those avalon rims on your ride? I was thinking about those.

well, yes, but it depend on tires:
summer high performance tires will weight less, standard or grand touring-tires more.
My concern was good all season traction and long tread life.
got both, but tires are heavy.

don't have any pics, sorry.
google 2005-2008 avalon touring 17"wheels ,graphite finish.
