why didnt you keep the tsx and add the mh1 in the highs? also how is the cut off? are you going for a flat cutoff?

I guess I just wanted to try something different. The MH1 was suppose to be a bit easier to do than the TSX with minimal modifications and it kinda was. Im going to test it out for a while and see how it fairs in comparison to the TSX. In truth, there is a good chance I may buy another pair of headlights and do a TSX retro as a backup for HIDs, but maybe later in the year. (Some people swap out for new rims or seasonal rims, I guess I swap out retrofits. lol) The cut off was nice. They already come paired with clear lenses so there was no need for color mods like the TSX. Im not sure what you mean by flat cut-off. I was just going for a more colorful and uniform cut-off like my original TSX retrofits.

So do you get a new set of headlamps and start fresh each time? I was thinking if the tsx was already in, adding the mh1 wouldnt make it too much harder and you would still have nice output. But anyways how was putting the mh1 in the highbeams? did you use the adapter plates? I was thinking of doing a MDX + MH1 retrofit. Mdx is suppose to be very easy and lets hope the mh1 is just as easy

Anyways as for the flat cut off, with quad instead of having 2 seperate cutoffs, you modify the shield to make a single flat cut off. here's an example

Normally, I do try to get a new set of headlamps everytime i do a retrofit. The price of them have gotten lower since I started, but this time around I reused the ones I had my TSX in. Actually it was a lot harder to put the MH1 in the highbeams. I had to cut into the reflector bowl and since the threading on the MH1 was too short for anything additional to be added on to the back (i.e lock ring or adapter plates) I had to cut off the bulb holding part on the back of the reflector (I can take pics of it later this weekend to show you). I orignally wanted to just replace the TSX with the MH1 cause I wanted to see for myself if the MH1 actually outperformed the TSX. Then I ended up deciding to go ahead and do a quad since I always wanted one. Definately go with the MDX, its been proven to be really easy. I would avoid the MH1 in the highbeams, I am kind of having issues with the shroud fitment on the MH1 in the highbeams, so I need to reopen those and have to maybe cut into the bezel or even more into the shrouds. my advice would be maybe go with the matchbox mh1 in the highbeams?

Im going to keep my TSX just in case I ever decide to go back to them. I may want a simpler setup again later on. In regards to the flat cut off. I kind of like the step cut off (_____/-------) and I will probably stick with that.

Btw. Happy 4th Everyone.

do you have any pics of the cut off of all 4 projectors on at once?

Also do you think it is worth it running quad mh1 projectors? Is the extra output from a 2nd set even worth it ?

No I don't. I ran into some problems when I went to mount the headlamps. I was going to do some vertical rotation to line up all the cutoffs but the shrouds in the high beams were hitting the bezel and wouldn't allow me to align them correctly so now I have to reopen them up and do some more trimming. When I test fitted everything was fine. But this time around I am going to get a new pair of headlamps from ebay. Saw an SE pair for 120ish. The integrity of my current ones have been a little compromised, I kinda figured it would happen since its going to be the third time reusing them.

As far as if I think its worth it. No doubt about it with all 4 on its bright as heck. But realistically I could do without its more like a nice option just to have. I decided to go back to the tsx but will do a quad retro with tsx + mh1 highs. My gf is bugging me to Retro her Yaris and i'm going to use the mh1 for hers. I like the cutoff of the tsx + tsx-r lens a little but more than stock mh1. I originally wanted the d2s version of the mh1 because of it's uniformity and i liked the output more but I settled with the mh1 for alot of the compatibility (I.e. hardware and mounting bracket).

Looking back and weighing the headaches and time I put into it I would not recommend it. Having just the lows is definately more than enough. But doing quads is a bit extreme which was something I always wanted to do though. I recommedn against it. I'd definately save the extra cash on some other mods like car audio. My 2 cents. Hope I answered your question.
