Drive/crankshaft seal replacement

Hi, I have a 2003 V6 Camry and it's gradually leaking oil. I'm told by our local mechanic (who I trust) that the seals have deteriorated on the crankshaft and driveshaft housings.

Does anyone have a procedure for this kind of repair? The auto mechanic wanted $700 to do it because of labor costs (seals are only $60 max for the pair).

I have a shop full of tools and time to do it. I just need to know if I'd be getting out of my depth!

That type of job required about 3-4 hours of work @ 95 bucks each hour.

There is such thing as excessive hours and it looks like they are spending too much time. When getting a quote, ensure to have itemized pricing and compare it with other mechanic.

You did not say if the leak is on the flywheel end or the pulley end, rear or front in other words. If the leak is at the flywheel, you are going to pull the transmission first to get to it. Up to the challenge?
