2008 Camry With 62K - Time For New Brakes

I am going to change the brakes on my wife's '08 XLE V6 Camry. I normally replace the hardware when doing brakes (slides and or pins), does the Camry have the same. The rotors are warped and pulsate under use from the slides getting gummed up, other than that they have held up great- they are close to being below spec.

So I plan on replacing the rotors and pads. OEM or Napa?

Any links to other threads, I looked and didn't really find what I was looking for. Any thing weird on changing them?

Thanks for the help.

Yes the camry does have pins but they will come whit the brake pads most of the time and is a very straight forward job no different that any other car. I replaced my break pads whit PROSTOP ceramic pads to prevent brake dust and so far no complaints.

when doing brakes, you should NOT need to replace any hardware other than the pads.

These brakes are single-sided piston and it rides on the sliding pin. Just clean it and grease it and reuse.

I think you need to grease the back of the pads and just swap it.

I recommend PosiQuiet, the mother of all StopTechs..which is extremely popular right now across all car forums,

highly underrated. I have some waiting to be installed

I'm only at like 36k miles though, but my brakes are squeaking..and they don't brake as good as they used to for sure.

I got my rotors re-machined at the dealer as per their TSB saying they're susceptible to warping, and after a trip to

the mountains where it was snowing and coming down the mountain fast in freezing weather...they warped and i experienced vibrations when braking.

Maybe that has something to do with the brakes going so fast..

OEM if they are marked "AK xxx-xxx FF". These are Akebono pads. Or buy aftermarket Akebono ProAct ceramic pads. And rotors Centric Premium rotors with the black powder coating on the hubs or their regular C-Tek rotors should work fine. Check rockauto.com and Amazon for prices.
