5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
OK, long story made short. Baby on the way, want to save some money at the same time get something bigger.
Currently drive a Corolla LE with 7K on it, leather seats installed. While I may be upside down a little about 2K my dealership is willing to honor some sort ala GAP insurance.
Looking at a Camry 2007 SEV6 w/110K on it and was hoping to get some input on reliability at this milage. It's going for 13000 in black, original SE rims and the works, perfect condition, drives smooth.
Any imput, good deal, what kind of repairs woudl i be looking at soon etc.....
Jut put tons of money towards a Sienna as this is my 3rd child so looking to save but get bigger. Is that to much to ask :-)
Given that kind of mileage, there is potential for unanticipated expenses, whereas you currently have a smaller car in warranty with no surprises for some time. You can get 3 car seats in the back. It CAN be done. Drive it for awhile and just suck it up for awhile.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
I think depending on the price, I think the car will still last AT LEAST another 100k without any major problems.
It is a Toyota, and although Gen6 have some minor problems such as rattles and stuff, I believe that everything under the hood is what a Toyota stands for, so it will keep running for a while...a long while.
Just keep it maintained well and it will pay off..by not breaking down haha
SE's are fun to drive, especially V6. I average like 350 miles per tank.
That price seems a bit high for a car with 110k miles... There has been minor problems with the 07 as it is the first production year for the Gen 6. But i am sure if there has been probs they have been taken care of already.
You can get great MPG on the V6 as stated above. On the flipside the Corolla is a great car..if you only have one kid, i would stick with the Corolla for now. With the warranty etc.
Just have to do a list of pros and cons and see which one comes out on top.
I'm no car guru but at times I feel the name and the supposed "reliability" ends up costing you a lot more than i feel like it would. Which is one reason i never try to bother with a Honda when i helped some of my friends try to purchase one they were mostly high miles but very expensive at least in my opinion.
I would debate the price with the dealer and they'd just give me the same old story. It's a honda it lasts forever... Do you need a V6? The only reason why I ask is because if you're trying to save money v4 might be the way to go and i got my 2007 v4 SE for 13,500 with 32k miles on it certified preowned.
So it varies where you go but you should be able to talk them down roughly a good 2-3g's i would say. they want your business and your money but at times they are reluctant. I did a month research in getting my car and most of the places that I couldn't get a good deal from kept calling me with slightly lower prices. So i don't know of how much of a rush you're into. But 100k miles for 13k? that doesn't sound cool to me especially since i got a 32k for 13,500. I mean yea its a v4 but still.
I have a 2007 Camry SE V6. I've been driving it since brand new. She's approaching 130,000km now and runs no different than years ago. I plan to keep driving this car for years still.

See if it's had any trans work done or if it's been replaced outright. There were issues with the '07 V6's in particular. I remember reading on this forum the problems that people were having almost immediately back then. Other than that- if I did it again- I'd be in an SE. League of its own compared to the rest of the line. Nicer seats, little body lean in the turns, feels so much better than the half-baked limp-noodle LE I drive.

i just got mine 3 weeks ago its 07 Camry SE V6 with 66k kms on it for $16k here in canada and quite happy with it. i suggest you take your time and weight your pros and cons and when you decide always negotiate the price. at the end of the day if they want your business they will give in if not you can always go to the next dealer. the good thing is you still have your corolla.
