keyless trunk lid doesn't work.

My 2006 camry keyless entry for the trunk doesn't work (it does however beep). I checked voltage at the release mechanism itself and I get none.
Now to give you the back story on this the brake lights stopped a few weeks ago. The stop fuse had blown, so I looked around a little and did not see any problems so I replaced it with the same 15 amp rated fuse. Then when the trunk issue came up I looked around and found the plastic piece that holds the wires in place going up to the trunk had broken and the wires were being smashed everytime it opened and I could see bare wires. Worse than that on one of the wires the insulation had been melted off and stuck to several other wires. The insulation was melted all the way back to behind the seat where it was crimped and split off. I disconnected the battery, replaced all the wiring from that point. Replaced the tail light fuse (didn't even know it wasn't working), and the stop fuse I had replaced a few weeks ago. It was melted into I pulled it out in 2 separate prongs (is it possible fuse was a defect I still have the box and confirmed it was a 15 amp same as 0EM. I think it should have blown before melting). So I guess I'm pretty thankful the trunk release stopped working since that made me start checking everything out. Anyway lid release still does not work. Manual shows this goes back to the body ECU. Is this most likely fried? How do I test it? Does anyone know a part # for it I've searched online without success? Is there anything else I can check?

^ have you try the key? with the '07 when the key turn one way it unlock the trunk, turn the other way and it would prevent remote open the trunk.

Thanks I didn't know that. Unfortunately that didn't fix it for me.
