Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just had the TRD cat back system installed at the dealer on my 2011 SE. Did not notice until I was home that the driver's side tip was closer to the valance on the inside. If I push up, it can hit the valance. The passenger which looks to be sitting dead-center and pushing does not let it touch. Since the dealership is some 40 miles away, wanted to know if there was a simple way that i could adjust the muffler?

Thanks.
I think that is a common problem with that exhaust system.
I do believe there's a thread on here regarding that issue.
^+1
With the mufflers, the (I believe) right side has 2 hangers and the left side has 1, so it won't sit as nice as the right side. It's just a matter of playing with it to get it to fit correctly.

Fitment is a known problem with TRD exhaust for the Camry. My driver side is dead center where as my passenger side isnt. Its closer to the rear valence as well. I've tried to kick it, move the exhaust out and away from the hangers and nothing. A member here, his exhaust stuck further out than the other and if standing above it, you can see it sticking out further than the bumper.
Even though my exhaust is closer to the rear valence, there is no melting of the plastic or anything. No one is going to know either. So don't worry about it.
Thanks to all of the people that posted responses. I could not locate a post inside the forum by searching - but I believe the answer is here, too. Just me missing it.
I did do an internet search and found this document (see link below) that was enclosed with the exhausts and which I didn't get from the tech - a downside to allowing the dealer to install it. There is a way to adjust but for me, it was limited and I could not center it on the driver's side although I was able to shift it over enough to not hit the valance if I pushed up on the exhaust which makes me a bit happier.
So I will take the sage advice of the mod and stop fretting over it.
Well, I am a bit bummed. Loved the look of them. Loved the sound when you first start the engine and most of the time when running. Could not get used to the booming drone at the speeds that I typically drive at.
Glad I kept the old mufflers and cat back pipe.
Sigh... What a waste of a lot of money.

I gave them to the service tech who installed them. Told him to either give them away, keep them or sell them himself. The dealership could not resell them so I couldn't just return them although they only had about a thousand miles on them. It is not like I am Donald Trump or anything either.
I was just over it. Bah!

Yes, you should have done more research. The exhaust install removes the resonator, so at 2000-2500 RPM your car will drive you insane. Thats anything from 70-85mph. You learn to live with the drone or get something else. You could have also gone to an exhaust shop and asked them to put a resonator on it for you.
MJZ - You are absolutely correct that I should have done more research. Good lesson for anybody considering a major upgrade. I went through the forum but should have asked people who had them and if any were in my area. I knew from this forum that the aftermarket ones tended to be on the nosier side so I didn't want to go that route. Somebody in the forum did suggest the resonator and somebody sent some nice links to stainless steel ones, too but I was not sure that it would quiet down enough and that would be more money for maybe nothing. Bottom line is that I don't fault anybody but myself on this one.
aznlunatic206 - you are right too, should have tried to recoup some of the money.

Yep, the resonator is the thing that quiets modern exhausts down, without it, it's not a good thing.
