5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just installed my Tein Lowering springs (Solara: SKL68-AUB00) on my 2011 camry last week and I love them... They are great, except that I scrape my front lip every time I go over a specific speedbump in my condo complex. No matter what angle or speed, I scrape the front lip and sometimes the side rail slams on the bump on the way down if my wife is in the car with me. Even at a slow crawling speed. The speed bump is massive and so annoying.
Anyway, I can't keep this up or my new car will hate me forever. I may need to raise my car back up a bit so I don't destroy my car. I'm thinking I may get the Camry Teins (1.5" drop) or H&R's to avoid the scraping on the speedbump. Will the .5" even help at all or will I still have issues?
Any other possible solutions? I would rather keep the solara springs as they are already installed and they own the road for everything else I do except the speedbump(s).
If there is no other solution, would anyone be interested in buying/trading for these Solara Teins?
Angle over the speed bumps, don't take them head on. I say give it time, you have to relearn how to drive with a lowered car. You have to learn patience and time management. Slow down and you'll never scrape.
I'm lowered 2" and speedbumps hate me, but i can usually make it over them without scraping if i go slow and angle over...and piss off the people behind me
Teins are kind of soft (from what I heard). I'm on Eibach and I don't scrape on speed bumps, dips, driveways unless they're really deep/high. The drop is higher than Teins though, but still handles great and I'd prefer this over messing up my bumper. I don't know about u.
why do people go through this aggravation for lowering their car? lower it less, improve the look a little bit but don't drop it to the damn ground. scraping the crap out of your front fascia just isn't worth it.

^ I keep telling them, the best way to lower is to remove what keeps the car up. This way no rubbing and lowest possible too. It won't rub, it'll just sit.

You do understand that when it comes you racing you can go too low right? I remember reading an article about racers that were too low and they raised their cars some and began making better times.
