So i have had a few people ask about my tails, and how it is done etc.
This DIY is for the Gen 5 Camry (as far as tail light removal goes).
**Disclaimer - I nor is ToyotaNation responsible for any screw ups, or run ins with the law**
So since they faded i did a touch up on them today and took pics and video.
I used VHT - NiteShade, This DOES fade over time, as you wash your car etc etc..
Step One - Remove tail lights (easy to do this than leave them in). There is 3 nuts that unscrew, i couldn't get a clear pic of them when in so i have circle what needs to be undone once they were out.
Gently pull the tail lights out of the back area, BECAREFUL wires are attached still.
Step Two - You can either unhook each bulb to get the tail light free, or unclip it from the main hardness, which i did, very easy and quick.
Just push in the tab and pull it free... I have circled these in the next pics.
Step 3 - Clean the tail light, get any grease off etc. Dry, or let air dry.
Step 4 - Lay down cardboard or whatever to protect the area you are painting in. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area as well.
Step 5 - Video... take your time... even strokes, you can go as dark or as light as you wish. Mine were already done, and i went darker, you can also tape off the signals and reverse lights if you wish. (you don't need your sound for the video, prob just hear a lot of background noise)
Step 6 - Let dry for i'd say 20mins, give 5mins between coats if you go darker. Then reverse the removal process to install the tails.
Final product -
Here are after pics. With my running lights, signals, reverse and brake lights all on.
And just cause i can... i took a pic of my third brake light, i forget where i got the decal so don't ask
Hope this is helpful... Feel free to ask any questions. It is very easy to do, just take your time. If you can use a spray can, you can do this!
Also, if you want to make them shine, you can lightly buff them after as well.
