Base radio: AUX jack

Ok, I looked and did not find. 2011 base Camry, radio is XM ready (sounds like it's just "enable" it, antenna already installed) -- but it's the base radio. The Aux jack is just an unknown jack, presumably stereo, no USB port.

Two questions:

1. What is the jack there? 3.5mm stereo, 3/32, something proprietary?

2. What are the options for hooking up an iPod? I see a $200+ cable, but I'm guessing one opens up the dashboard somehow to install? Like this:

It looks like, with this kit, you can have either iPod or XM, but not both. Is there install instructions someplace for this? Or is something where one tears apart the dash--don't think the wife will let me do that...

Thanks.

Should be 3.5mm stereo jack. You could just plug your iPod to the stereo with that with a male-male cable. You won't have control of the iPod through the cars stereo controls, only volume. You'll still have to choose songs and whatnot with the iPod itself.

Hmm, that was what I was starting to expect. No biggie, it's not like she's had that sort of control yet. She doesn't listen to the radio, and hasn't had XM yet (probably won't), so it's something of a shame to not be able to use the fancy controls and display. Oh well, eventually we'll get that rectified.

Thanks.

Just so you know, XM radio AND an iPod interface are not compatible with each other. You will have to pick between one or the other.
