Gen6 My first MOD - Spring Loaded Grocery Hooks in trunk

Well,

Finally got what I needed and since the existing grocery hooks suck in our Camrys I decided to buy some that are installed in some VWs and Audis. They are about $10 a piece with $10 shipping so $30 total. They are spring loaded so when no weight is on them they stay up and out of the way.

You can see the part number on the bag to search for (it's 1K5 867 615A). I got mine at some VW place in Washington state.

I used flat panel nuts to attach to the under portion of the trunk. This is basically the only place because if you go any higher grocery bags won't touch the floor of the trunk and they will sway.

I used a 1/2 drill bit for the holes and tapped the panel nuts into place with hammer. I had some small hex head bolts that I used to fasten. I guess you could get away with sheet metal screws but I didn't want them backing out. FYI: Don't even think about using a nut on the back. There is no way to get your hands back there. I even took out the rear deck top and couldn't get my hands in there!

Where's the DISLIKE button?

The stop and go would make it bang around too easily. I prefer the cargo net and even that didn't work so well. Once I put the windshield bottle in the cargo net, got home and found it outside the net... anyway, than I notice those items got out were all "tall" items. Guess I brake so hard that those items just jump out of the net.
