225/60/R16 instead of 215 wide

Time for new tires for my 2002 Camry XLE. Going with Yoko Avid Envigor.

Just curious, if going 225 wide any advantages? Any thing negative other than perhaps a very slight drop in mileage due to 10 mm more contact patch?

All stock except for a 19mm whiteline RSB and stock FSB that I have added.

I went with a 225-50-16 Toyo proxes 4 on my stock 16's, and they were great. The diameter is a bit smaller, so the speedo will read maybe 1-2mph fast, but the difference in performance was well worth it. Of course, it's a smaller sidewall, so it won't be as soft and comfy, but when you turn the wheel, the car turns

Being in the auto service biz, I don't recommend using 225/60s on these cars. The added height will throw off the speedometer and odometer by around 2.5% and slightly decrease acceleration. The added weight and width of a 225/60 will tend to slightly increase rolling resistance. None of these differences are really large, though. If your reason for using a larger tire are cosmetic, indulge yourself! If the reason is for better performance, I would suggest selecting the best tire available in the 215/60-16 size. For ultimate performance, BlackG5's suggestion for 225/50s makes some sense. However, a 225/50-16 is about 1.25" shorter overall than a 215/60-16.
