Gen6 P0606 Code

Well, I went out yesterday and bought my wife a new vehicle, so I inherited her 2008 4cyl SE. It has 41,xxx miles. I went to get it detailed today and as I am leaving the CEL came on. After getting it scanned, it is P0606, PCM failure. My wife bought the car before we were married, and I'm pretty sure she opted out of any extended warranty.

Is this fix / replacement covered in the factory 5yr/60k powertrain? Just wondering before I have to go deal with the service department.

Thanks in advance.

You need to talk to the dealer. I suspect the powertrain control module is covered for 60/60, but those are the folks to know, and likely the best ones to fix the problem.

Had same code last year, turns out it was an 02 sensor...
bank 2 sensor 1, 07 V6, 90K miles at the time.

It was more difficult to disconnect the plug than it was to remove the sensor. The 4 cylinder may not have as many sensors and they may or may not be as easy to get to...lol

Engine Ecu is warranted 8yrs/80k miles so your probably good. Did the detailer clean your engine compartment? If so you may have had some water intrusion. Not really a good idea to hose down engine compartments since they started putting the Ecu there.

I am thinking that it may have been from the detail. I'm not sure if they cleaned the engine bay, but they may have. I'll check it this evening.

With that being said, the light went off the next day and has not come back on.

Should I still take it in? Not sure if they can see anything if the code is not being thrown anymore.

Thanks for the quick responses.

There may have been some moisture that closed a circuit and caused the cel. When it dried the problem vanished. If the light isn't on and stays off, then file it away for future reference. The dealer probably doesn't need to see it.
