09' Camry brakes are honking at us!

The wife made an abrupt stop in her 09' Camry Hybrid this evening. The end result was a "honking" noise that now occurs each & every time she steps on the brake pedal. The "honking" noise is equivilant to that a goose would make and lasts a fraction of a second once the brake pedal is pressed. Best I can tell, the noise is coming from the cabin or front brakes (hard to tell).

Any guesses as to what the heck is wrong?

Ha, no goose in the grill but she almost clipped a horse pulling a carriage.

I did check the pedal (while the tranny was in Park), tapped the pedal and no noise ... so it appears (?) the car must be in motion.

You know, check your seatbelt. Really- the shoulder belt. My car does that, and it's the seatbelt. Sit in the car, and rock forward and backward ever so slightly- seriously. It drove me nuts for a month before I figured out what the heck it was. It took just the right speed and action, but I figured it out.

First I thought it was brakes, then a front strut, everything... Damn seat belt.

As mysteriously as the noise came about, it was gone this morning when I took it for a test drive. Could've been air or seatbelt, dunno - just glad that it's gone.

It varies on the humidity for me, if it comes back, check that belt...

Glad it's silent for now...
