5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've been a member on TN and been lurking quite a bit. I currently drive a 2009 Honda Fit, 5 speed manual that I want to trade it in for a 2010 Camry se v6. I am tired of driving stick.
I want a reliable car with good room and smooth ride...I was considering a ES or GS but i do not want to spend the extra $10k for it.
I would only get the SE v6 2010 camry since the exterior and interior is slightly revised.
I've done some searches and I have some questions that I hope you guys can answer since I cannot find them:
1. How are the reliability of the v6 engine and transmission? I was reading that the shifts flairs were bad? were these fix for the 2010 models?
2. I know that Gen 6 camrys have a lot of plastics and rattles, but coming from a fit, i think it would be more luxurious and comfortable. are the plastics and rattles really THAT bad?
3. my ideal camry would be the 2010 Camry SE v6 with leather and navigation. This trim seems to be hard to find...especially leather in the SE trim. Are they really rare? also, for those with leather, how are they?
Thank you for responding guys. Looking forward to learn more and to attend meets once I purchase the vehicle.
1. The V6 engine has been in use since the 2006 Rav4, and usually doesn't have many problems. There was a TSB for the 6 speed auto transmission that supposedly fixed the flare issues....some members say their car performed better, some say it's the same. I guess it all depends. I have no experience with it as my Camry SE is a stick shift.
2. Coming from a Fit, I don't think the rattles in the dash/pillars will annoy you. I have a couple in my car, but I only hear them if the radio/climate control is off.
3. Leather is pretty common in a V6 SE, but Navigation is a little harder to find. I myself have only seen 3 (and I work at a Toyota delership), and all 3 were bought by management/salespeople. I love the leather, I've ridden in a couple of them with it, and it's comfy.

The Following User Says Thank You to arabianobsession For This Useful Post:
the only one i would get is the SE because it looks the best out of all the camrys.
but i do have a question regarding the start/stop buttons.
on some camry SE i've seen the traditional ignition...but i've also seen some SE with the start/stop button style. how come some has it and some doesn't? was it a package deal?

Yeah, it's pretty much a package option. However, most SE's will have the Smart Key with the push button. All the V6 (at least in 2011) will have push button, but not all 4 cylinders will. Mine doesn't, cause it's a stick.

The black display allows you to have bluetooth and up to 36 stereo presets, as well as a USB port. The non-black display is just the basic radio, no bluetooth, basic preset options, and no USB port.
$23k for that car isn't a bad deal. Personally, I'd knock 'em down a little bit more and you'll have a winner

Yeah, I'm also a member of Camry Forums, but the activity on there is nearly nil and it's filled with spam. This is the most active Camry forum I've come across to date, and there's an incredible wealth of knowledge that's passed around here on a daily basis
I agree-$21k sounds good!
