Gen5 how to remove plastic engine cover on 04 camry v6

Im talking about the plastic engine cover that needs to be removed in order to get to the spark plugs.. On mine its just the 1mz cover that says vvt-i v6 24v. There are 3 hex key slots and what looks like bolts underneath them i cant really tell. I dont have the metric allen key set if thats messing me up im not sure. i have the ones measured in inches 1/8 7/32 etc etc. Also does this cover need to be on when driving the car? Im not a fan of all these plastic covers that are being used to hide parts under the hood, especially in newer cars. Would much rather have easy access to the parts rather then having to bother with a pain in the ass plastic cover.

The fasteners are 5mm hex bit. The cover is not necessary for operation. Regards

Undo the hex bolts and gently pop each corner off.

You sure it's a 1mz and not 3mz? 1mz's were discountinued on the 02-03 model.

take off the oil filler cap and remove the 3 fasteners on the front and you're good, according to this repair manual i bought at the auto parts store a few days ago. cost me 25 bucks, so it better be right lol and the V6 camry they used to make this book is also an '04 so i think Gellenole is right its a 3MZ not a 1MZ.
