2004 CMRY LE v6 - mileage issues

I have 2004 cmary le v6.
I used to get abt 28-30mpg.
dropped to 23-24 now.
What can i do to improve the mileage?
Already used several bottles of fuel injector cleaners from costco(chevron)
used gumout.
When I used gumout, i got 400 miles per tank. but next filling it came down to 330.
I used to get close to 440 on full tank!!!!

I read that I can clean maf sensor. Where is it ? how can I clean it.

Also, can I use 3m fuel system tune-up kit? is it easier to do? Would it help? it sells on amazon for 35..

Also, I am not sure when the dealer replaces park plugs... would that help?

I got the timing belt/water pump replaced at 90k. I have 97k miles now.

On 4 cylinder engines spark plugs recommended to be replaced at 100,000 miles. I do not know about 6 cylinders.

I would also try to seafoam and to clean throttle body.

Good luck,
Sam

My 2004 V6 averages about 25/28 with mixed highway and small town driving. I got 30mpg once when the car was very new but I haven't ever had that experience again. The MAP is in the air inlet downstream from the filter box. Has about four or five wires. Take the wire connector loose and remove the two fasteners holding it in. You can purchase MAP clcleaner at any parts store. You want to be careful with this sensor because it has some very small wires that are easily broken. Scheduled spark plug change for the V6 is 120,000 miles/144 months. Driving habits can also influence fuel mileage. Regards

well I have 2006 Toyota Camry Le v6. same like your. 227,000 miles. I get 31-32 MPG highway driving with cruise control.

Mpg depends on driving style. idling at traffic will decrease mpg. maybe you check the tire pressure and change the gas station. what kind of gas r u using?

MAF sensor. The cleaner is made by CRC. Funny cuz on the spray can, it says not to use it on Lexus cars, lol.
I'm amazed how u guys get 30mpg on the automatics!!! I'm jealous.

less traffic=higher mpg.

I live in Reno,Nevada and work in North Lake Tahoe area. We don't have traffic. I drive 108 miles total. I usually drive 63- 65 MPH with the cruise control as much as I can. So it is basically 98% highway driving and that lead me to 31-32 mpg. ( sometimes 33 mpg).

I have the same engine in an '02. At 140k I was suffering the same situation. I had changed the plugs at 105k, no effect.
Well at 140k, I changed both air/fuel sensors and the downstream O2 sensor, as well as the MAF. Mileage jumped from 24 to 30 highway and the engine felt robust as new. Noticeable difference.
