Projector glass?

Hi everyone,

quick question: I know the headlight housing is plastic...but are the projector housings made of glass or plastic as well?

The reason I ask is because my co worker told me that if it is plastic, to go with 35W instead of 55W for the HID kits. Thanks

Go with 35W, 55 could melt the projector housing and cause severe damage to your headlight housing too.

i was thinking 35W at 4300k (i just want the brighter, OEM look).

also, i have a 2010 with the 2.5...will the slim ballast be worth the extra $10? or will the regular one be fine?

get slim ballasts, they're easier to install.

IMO 55w wouldnt melt anything ... Well at least mine are fine so far.

Ive done 2 trips to washington DC in the camry, 8-9hr trip . I love driving at night time, and well my 55w hid's were on the WHOLE time along with my 35w fogs, and at times Id have my high beams also on , probably 10-15 minutes at a time. (some roads are just dead at 3am).

No melting or anything that I seen when I inspected the housing, its been 4 times where I would have the HID's on for 8-9 hours straight. So far so good for me

No matter which one you choose they will both be brighter than factory halogens.

well if anybody has ever done a real test between 33w hid, 55w hid, and a halogen bulb, then you would know that the hids run cooler then stock halogens. it is simple to do. get an infrared (touchless) thermometer and you will get your results. i run 55w hid in my bike and if you know bikes you know that the low beams are always on and they are usually on for about one hour which isnt a lot but i have had them installed since a long time ago and their is not discoloration or melting or anything. i used to have a Hyundai tiburon with 55w hids and i ran them for hours ad hours and never did i see any negative effect of them.

if you are installing in a car then it doesnt really matter if you get slim or regular because you have enough space to install either of them.

i would say get ddm tuning but at the end they all come from china. on my old tiburon i had china brand 55w and they never failed me. no flicker or anything. i have ddm 55w in my bike and they havent failed me either. i currently also run 6k which for 55w is white. because 55w is giving more power so the light becomes more white.

if you get 35w you should get something like 4300k or 5000k because those will have the whitest output but if you want some blue tint then get 6000k

Where did you guys mount the ballst? I searched and some ppl took bumper off and some didn't. I want to see what is the percentage of people who took bumper off compare to people who have not. I plan to order the slim ballst ones. Thank you in advance. Pictures would be welcomed.
