Need some help... helped a friend change out his alternator, when I got there he had most of it out so all I really did was removed it and reinstal the drive belt, but now theres no power on half the console.... the key insert works, but it doesn't turn over, the dash board lights don't come on, tail lights don't come on, but the head lights do, when the key is set to ACC CEL and headlight bulb come on, interior lights come on, but nothing else, the battery bulb doesn't come on or the radio doesn't come on, is there a master fuse to power the rest of the console?? I know my Celica has 2 long fuses that when one was blown half the stuff worked. Any help is appreciated.
Was the battery ground taken off before alternator replacement began? Alternators have a hot wire and it probably was shorted to ground and took out one or more fuses. Look in the owner's manual for fuse diagrams or listings. The fuse block cover also shows the various fuse applications.

model year?
if it's an 02 - 05, the 120 A alternator fuse is likely blown. Check the engine compartment fuse box, it's one of the more squarish looking fuses. If it's blown, you will need to take apart the fuse box, as it's bolted in.

My apologies for the delay on the update it's an 05 Camry, and my buddy tried to help me out by pre-disconnecting all the stuff before I got there.... he told me something sparked but wasn't quite sure what... so after I posted this I went back looking around and I found the 120A fuse blown, I took the box apart that day, and finished replacing the fuse about midnight, picked up a new 120A fuse from Auto Zone it wa a PIA to remove and replace, but thanks for all the help.. I figured it was this fuse, but I was really praying it wasn't.

yeah, that fuse is a pain in the ass. you were lucky to find a replacement fuse quickly. I had blown that fuse on a sunday so the dealership was closed, and the first 2 closest stores (pepboys/autozone) only had 100 A fuses. I ended up driving almost 30 to 40 min to some random store that said they had it in stock.
